The Williston Community Library was founded in 1983 when the James Memorial Library and the West Plains Rural Library combined forces. This decision was approved by the public with only 1 vote more than it needed. It is currently the only public library in the county. General operation funds are provided through property taxes paid to the City of Williston and Williams County. Donations made to the Williston Community Library Foundation are another source of funding dedicated for programs, special events and projects. If you are interested in donating, please contact the Library Director.
The building is 10,000 square feet and holds approximately 60,000 various materials, including adult, young adult and juvenile fiction and non-fiction items. In addition to the physical building, it is home to the Williams County Bookmobile, which delivers library materials to patrons throughout the county.
Consistently throughout the year, the library hosts hundreds of programs and special events free of charge to the community. For more information please call the library or come in for a visit.
